The Management Employees Pension Plan (MEPP) is governed by the Public Sector Pension Plans Act and its regulations. The President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance is the Administrator and Trustee of MEPP. However, the Minister is not involved in the day-to-day operations of the Plan.
The Management Employees Pension Board (MEPB or the Board) provides governance of the MEPP fund. The Board sets policy related to funding, administration, and investments. They may also advise the Minister on any pension matters that are of interest to members entitled to a MEPP benefit.
The MEPB has limited oversight over the Public Service Management (Closed Membership) Pension Plan. The Board conducts actuarial valuations, hears appeals, and consults on costs for the Closed Plan.
